- | I have one of the new "V34+" 33.6k Sportster modems from US Robotics
- | and I was wondering if anyone has experienced the following problem.
- | I have a Cyclades 8yo card which I connect my Sporsters to and the
- | other "regular v34" Sportsters work fine. However, the V34+ causes mgetty
- | under Linux to respawn repeatedly so that I see a 'disabled for 5 minutes
- | message in /usr/adm/messages.
- | The registers seem to have changed. The only setting I changed on the
- | V34+ was set S13 = to 1.
-
- It may be your modem settings. I like to set hardware flow, reset on
- drop dtr, lock DTE speed.
- "d2:45:respawn:/sbin/agetty -h -t30 ttyS1 38400" works for me.
- |
- | Any ideas? I know these modems are very popular so I'd expect there'd
- | be a lot of messages about this problem if it was a hardware problem, but...
-
- I haven't upgraded all my Sportsters to the latest ROM, mainly
- because I disagree with the idea of changing the registers and
- breaking init strings.
